We ground the walls correctly
Priming of walls is a mandatory stage of finishing work. Thanks to the treatment with the strengthening composition, the adhesion of the base and the wallpaper is much higher, and therefore the quality of the repair is increased. How to properly ground walls? Let us analyze the process of priming walls from beginning to end.
Tools needed for priming walls
We list the main tools and devices that you will need:
· A roller with a pile of medium length
· Telescopic handle to extend the roller
· Wide paint brush
· Capacity for primer
All these tools can be purchased at the supermarket building for a fairly modest amount.
Recommendations for preparing walls for primer
Before you start applying the primer to the walls, make sure the quality of the wall surface. The fact is that there are certain limitations that must be taken into account. For example, in no case can a primer be applied on a newly repaired wall. Layers of plaster and putty must be completely dry.
Also, do not apply a primer over whitewash, as the wallpaper to the chalk base is unlikely to stick. It is equally important to ensure that there is no mold on the walls. If any, it is better not to rush to priming and first of all to carry out the treatment with antifungal compounds.
If your walls are in order, you can proceed to their priming.
How to properly ground the walls, a description of the process
Priming the wall is quite simple. To get started, study the instructions on the canister with firming composition. From it you will learn the approximate consumption of the primer and its main characteristics. Keep in mind that a very dry and porous surface will absorb much more liquid than usual, so in this case it is best to purchase a primer with a small margin. Ideally, the problematic walls should be treated twice. So you will surely achieve the desired state of the base for the subsequent pasting with wallpaper.
The next step is to fill the primer in a special container. It is distinguished from an ordinary bath by the presence of a ribbed surface, on which it is very convenient to squeeze out excess primer. This gives additional convenience at work and good savings for the strengthening composition. Carefully pour a part of the liquid from the canister into the container, trying not to spill the liquid past.
Now fix the roller on the telescopic handle and dip it in the primer. Rotate it slightly and squeeze against the ribbed surface of the container. All the roller is sufficiently wetted and can be used to process the walls. Thanks to the telescopic handle, all work will be done from the floor, without the use of scaffolding and scaffolding. This greatly facilitates the work and speeds up the process of impregnating the walls with a primer composition.
Another technique that increases the speed of application of the composition, is to treat the wall in parts. First, walk along the upper part of the wall (from the ceiling to the middle), and then at the bottom (from the middle to the floor). In this case, you do not have to intercept the instrument every couple of meters.
In the process, avoid badly moistened areas. The entire surface of the walls should be properly moistened. Remember that the quality of adhesion of wallpaper to the base depends on it. Negligence will result in a spoiled mood and financial expenses for a new unplanned repair.
After the main part of the walls is treated with a primer, equip with a paint brush. She will have to work in those places where the roller was ineffective. These are places near the ceiling, floor, wall junctions and, of course, the area near the radiator.
Apply the second layer for an hour - another. During this time, the primer is completely absorbed into the surface of the walls, and they will again be ready for re-treatment with a strengthening composition. You should not try to speed up the drying process at the expense of an additional source of heat: a heat gun, Euro-wood or something else. The primer dries quickly enough. Moreover, there is no need to wait until the wall is completely dry. After that, you can re-process the wall, according to the algorithm described above.
Here is such a simple instruction on how to properly ground the walls. As you can see, there is nothing difficult in this process!
