GAZ-2411: technical description and design features
In the USSR, many cars of the Gorky Automobile Plantcame to equip fleets of various government agencies. One of the key clients were taxi parks throughout the country. All models of GAZ, ranging from M1 to 2410, had a specially modified version for the taxi factory.
Modernization of the Volga
By the early 1980s, the base model of the GAZ-24,produced almost unchanged for more than ten years, did not meet the increased requirements for cars of this class. At the same time, the car remained prestigious and in demand in the domestic market of the country.
Therefore, the plant decided to modernize the car withusing the elements of small-scale "director" "Volga" model 3102. The updated version of the base sedan received the GAZ-2410 index, it began to be produced since mid-1985.
It should be noted that the transition from one model to anotherthe other was gradual, so for a while cars were produced "transitional" model 24M. Smooth modernization allowed to take the car without issuing additional certification documents. This explains the preservation of index 24 in the final designation of the model.
The car-taxi was not structurally different from the base car, so the changes in the models are similar. Typical GAZ-2411 in the photo below.
Features of the version for taxis
The first result of the modernization of theThe modified engine, which went on the conveyor since the spring of 1986. The main power unit of the "Volga" was a 100-strong ZMZ-402.10, designed to work on gasoline A93. One of the main technical differences between the GAZ-2411 and the 2410 was the engine ZMZ-4021.10, which was deformed in terms of the compression ratio, and was capable of operating on cheaper and more popular A76 gasoline. Such an engine developed power up to 90 hp.
Some cars for taxis were equipped with 85-strongmotor ZMZ-4027.10, adapted to work on a reduced gas. The start-up and warm-up were carried out with gasoline A93. The variant of the car with this engine was index 2417 and differed from GAZ-2411 by the rear left wing, in which there were two hatches. One hatch for the throat of the gas tank was located on the regular place, the second (for filling the gas cylinder) - higher and closer to the opening of the rear door.
Another difference of the car for the taxi servicebecame a salon with a sheath of washable leatherette. In this case, the driver's seat had a more comfortable combined lining. Its front part had inserts from the fabric. Ergonomics of seats was repeated by GAZ-3102. The main part of cars for taxis were painted in yellow-lemon or light-beige colors with the letter "T" in the circle and with checkers. Standard symbols were applied to the front doors, hood and trunk lid. Additional symbolism was created already by the forces of taxis.
The machines did not have a radio and antenna, instead of them there was a TAM-L1 counter, a hard-mounted orange lantern FP147 on the roof and a green lantern in the corner of the windshield.
Brakes and suspension
Updated "Volga" received an improvedbraking system. The GAZ-2411 was equipped with a brake cylinder mounted directly on the brake booster. A small part of the cars was equipped with disc brakes on the front wheels.
The front suspension has undergone minor changes, during which the track has been slightly widened. To improve stability and control, tires with a wider protector were used.
The diameter of the disks remained unchanged and was 14 inches. The discs were closed with regular plastic caps.
Changes in the interior of the car were moreglobal. The GAZ-2411 used a dashboard similar to the "director's". It was not an exact copy and had a chopped shape. The arrangement of the elements in the panels 2411 and 3102 was different, and the material of the panel itself was different. The plastic of all the interior details on the 2411 was tough.
Without changes from GAZ-3102, the steering wheel, the pedal assembly and the handbrake handle moved. If on the 24th "Volga" she was under the instrument panel, then on 2411 she migrated to a more familiar place.
Outside, the new machine was distinguished by a simplified grilleradiator made of black plastic. Such gratings have been put on some export versions of GAZ-24 since the late 1970s. The headlamps of the new design allowed to abandon the individual front position lamps.
On the side, a new car was distinguished by recessed handles, similar to GAZ-3102. The front doors lost the pivoting windows, and the red and white parking lights were removed from the ventilation deflectors. Disappeared beautiful chrome-plated inscriptions "Volga", they were replaced by a single nondescript decorative inscription on the trunk lid. On the earliest machines there were chrome mirrors on the door panel. GAZ-2411 has since 1988 been equipped with mirrors located in the corners of the windows. Such mirrors were adjusted from the passenger compartment.
Until now, single copies have reachedGAZ-2411. The operation of cars in the taxi was tough. Most of the cars entered the taxis in a difficult time for the economy of the USSR, so the cars were operated up to maximum wear.
