China will build ten thousand apartments in Afghanistan
The Chinese government has pledged to allocate about $ 300 million for the construction of 10 thousand apartments in Afghanistan. The contract for the construction of the first stage was signed at the state level last week.
The Minister of Urban Development and Housing of Afghanistan, Said Saadat Mansur Naderi, and the Chinese Ambassador to Afghanistan, Yao Jin, signed an agreement on March 16 according to which construction will start with 1,400 apartments in the capital, Kabul.
According to Tolo News, at the signing ceremony Naderi said that although the initial stage includes 1,400 apartments, China will finance ten thousand housing units in total.
According to the same publication, work should begin in the next two months, and it will take about two years to complete the first stage.
The Chinese government is committed to providing $ 300 million for the full implementation of the project, covering Kabul and the provinces of Afghanistan, the housing deficit of which is estimated at two million apartments.
“The technical part of the team at the Ministry of Urban Development and Housing has completed the development of the project. The place has already been agreed upon and the soil has been evaluated, ”Naderi said.
